November 20, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Need a personalized gift for the special people on your Christmas list this year? It’s the most creative way to gift a special present and help with our holiday spending this year. With the exciting new heat transfer paper products available the possibilities are endless. I‘ve been thinking about items that anyone would love to receive that will not only be personalized but will also be useful. See if any of these easy ideas will help you get started.

Christmas Gifts for Kids using Heat Transfer Paper

First on my list are gifts for my kids and with their help a few for their friends. The heat transfer paper that caught my attention for these projects for the holidays are the Glitter FlexWear™, the Glow in the Dark FlexWear™ and the Flock FlexWear™. Any item that helps my kids keep track of their possessions is useful.

  • Personalized Pillow Cases – I love the idea using heat transfer paper for pillowcases to take to sleepover parties when it’s a bit hard to keep track of your pillow after the pillow fights. Imagine using Glow in the Dark FlexWear™ designs with not only their name but a personalized design to help them identify it in the dark. It’s not only great to do this for your own kids but also they can help create special designs for their friends. What a great gift!
  • Personalized Sleeping Bag Cover or Overnight Totes – I must have sleepovers on my mind, but knowing how often this is occurring in my house makes me believe that kids really need personalized items once they leave the house or it may not come back. Using Glitter FlexWear™ or Flock FlexWear™ heat transfer paper personalizing these special totes make it easy for your kids to stay organized.

Christmas Gifts for Teachers using Heat Transfer Paper

Personalized Large Storage Crock or Large Mug – I’m sure that teachers have collections of various mugs that they have received over the years. Using heat transfer paper for hard surfaces you can create not a similar drinking mug but a useful labeled vessel for storing items like paint brushes, Popsicle sticks, and colored pencils, something that is specialized to your child’s classroom activities. In our classroom every child must check-in their lunch choices by picking a color coded stick for each lunch choice and placing it in an envelope. Now our teacher has a specially labeled “lunch choice” crock that helps keep things organized. It works great and the teachers really appreciated it.

Christmas Gifts for Grandparents using Heat Transfer Paper

“Green” Grocery Totes – With everyone being more conscience of the environment that we are leaving to our children, let us help by doing our part. Grandparents will love having a special designed tote from their Grandchildren using heat transfer paper that they personalized. A large washable cotton tote with a design created with heat transfer paper that can be used to carry groceries, knitting, reading materials or any items with come in very useful. I’m sure it’s one that won’t be left behind.

Having created a personalized Christmas gift using hot new heat transfer paper products will not only help your Christmas spending budget but it will also be a big hit for any of your special people on your list. There are so many possibilities, be creative and have fun using heat transfer paper on your next project.

Is Iron On Heat Transfer Paper Right for Your Project?

October 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Iron on heat transfer paper can be used for applying custom graphics and text to t-shirts, sweatshirts and other fabric items. You can be as creative as you want by using a scanner or digital camera to capture and manipulate images, graphics, or logos, and transfer them to fabric using iron on heat transfer paper. It is simple to print multiple colors and intricate designs, and you can easily customize the output. Iron on heat transfer paper is great for small or large jobs.
Digital images can be transferred to light or dark fabric by printing an image on transfer paper and ironing it onto your fabric. Iron on transfer paper for white t-shirts is different than paper for dark t-shirts. If you are creating an image for a black or dark blue t-shirt, be sure to get the version of transfer paper for dark fabric for the images to transfer well.

Depending on the type of printer, you must choose the correct type of transfer paper in order to successfully print images on the fabric. Most t-shirt transfer paper is for inkjet printers. However, if you have a laser printer, there is iron on heat transfer paper available specifically for laser printers. It is recommended that you do not use the inkjet transfer papers in your laser printer. For best results, the fabrics must have at least 50% cotton content. Instructions must be followed carefully to achieve optimal results. Read More…….

Iron On Dark Transfer Paper

August 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Iron on dark transfer paper can be used with either Inkjet or Laser printers for producing quick, inexpensive photo quality prints transferred on to your garment in a matter of minutes via a heat press or iron. If you have a dark garment, and want to apply a design quickly, you will need dark heat transfer paper. This method of garment creation is relatively durable, however after many washings, the image may begin cracking or fading. It is often the ideal heat transfer paper for small quantities of garments, which need personalization, or can be used for realistic photo applications. It is relatively easy to use and works well if instructions are followed.

To eliminate having a box around your design, especially on dark fabrics, it is important to cut the paper around the design. You can use dark transfer paper to decorate t-shirts, sweatshirts, mouse pads, coasters, puzzles and leather goods. Of course, you can also use a laser cutter machine for the most professional look and quality.

Another great way to decorate dark fabrics is by applying a vinyl film. Heat Transfer Vinyl makes an excellent transfer which will last longer than most garments without cracking, peeling, or fading. It is best used for adding names and numbers on sports uniforms. It is easy to use, but applying more than 3 colors with intricate details can be labor intensive. As with the dark transfer paper, this is best used with a laser cutter.

Dark T Shirt Transfer Paper

June 25, 2008 · 2 Comments

You can use T Shirt Transfer Paper to create your own custom t shirts or other fabric articles.

Be creative and use T-shirt transfer paper to make your own custom t-shirts and other fabric articles, such as aprons, tote bags, and book covers. T-shirt transfer paper can be used to transfer a printed image onto fabric with heat from a heat press or even a household iron.

There are two different types of T shirt transfer paper. For white, gray or another light colored fabric, use standard T-shirt transfer paper. For black, navy, or other dark colored fabric, use T-shirt transfer paper designed for dark colors. Remember that black lettering and outlines will not show up, so change your design accordingly.

How to Create Your Own T-Shirt Designs

In addition to the T-shirt transfer paper, all you need is a printer and a computer with some type of imaging software. Put the T-shirt transfer paper into your printer and:

  • Use single sheet feeding only.
  • Print on rough side of the transfer paper and do not use transfer setting on printer
  • Set Printer to high-resolution or photo-quality
  • Increase color brightness and or saturation.

Create your custom design using your computer photo editing or image design software. If you are creating a design that contains lettering, be sure you remember to reverse the image in the document before printing. Print the design onto your T shirt transfer paper, and let the ink dry.

Cut around the outside edges of the final image before positioning the paper on the fabric. Carefully read the instructions for transfer, including heat settings and length of time for heat application. You can do the transfer with a house hold iron. Directions are also included for care and washing of the t shirt. In general you will:

  • Put fabric on a hard smooth surface (Do not use ironing board)
  • Put pillowcase underneath fabric
  • Remove the backing from the transfer paper by tearing about 1/8”
  • Position imaged transfer film on fabric with printed side up
  • Set iron at highest temperature setting
  • Cover imaged transfer paper with silicon paper to protect the image
  • Press each side of the image with 45 seconds presses until all edges and corners are firmly attached. Continue to press with small 45 second presses over the entire image
  • Allow silicon to cool completely and peel off
  • Total ironing time should be 5 to 6 minutes for an 8 ½” X 11” image.

Sometimes irons vary, so you may have to experiment with the length of press time.
If you own a Heat Press, here are the general instructions:

  • Settings for cotton/cotton blends: 25 seconds, 375 degrees
  • Settings for synthetic fabrics: 10 seconds, 350 degrees

General Use
Dark T shirt transfer paper for inkjet printers can be printed with 1440 dpi which is great for high-resolution photographs. It will work on all colored fabrics made of cotton or synthetic, like polyester and nylon. The paper works well in most common ink jet printers such as Epson, Canon, HP or Lexmark

Washing Instructions
Wash all fabric (turn inside out) before wearing. Wash in warm water and hang dry. Do not use bleach.
